I'm Nota Robot

Magnets are wonderful.

I mean, really.

Some schmuck, hucking rocks at a large animal trying to kill it for food and clothing, noticed two rocks stuck together, even after you pulled them apart.

And from that we have magnets.

We also have fridges.

I'm pretty certain we have refrigerators today so that we can put stuff on them. With magnets.

Tasty Treat

Number 1 favorite song in the entire universe, right now. This very minute.

"Black Jettas" by Ima Robot .

So much fun.

Lyrics I stole from Lyrics Box:

"Yea. Tim, me and Olli have problems. Justin has none.

Ex-girlfriends in black Jettas
Everywhere I go, there it is
When I take a stroll, there she is
When I'm out the door, what I'm looking for
Same looking car that I saw 12 seconds ago

They're so popular you can't get away
Girls drive 'em in Encino
And they drive 'em in LA
Some are different, some are older
And their bodystyle is changed
But my heart will still jump
Because to me, they look the same

Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas

I get so scared
She's so filled with hate
Can't pay attention to my new girl
[Pssh... whatever!]
Is that her license plate?
[Oh my god, he'll try and kiss you]

They're so popular you can't get away
Girls drive 'em in Encino
And they drive 'em in LA
Some are different, some are older
And their bodystyle is changed
But my heart will still jump
Because to me, they look the same

Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas

Is that her license plate? [Oh shit!]
Is that her? Check the rims. [They're coming after me.]
About to crash, I can't relax [SCREEEECH.]
Is that her? I can't tell! [Turn here! What the fuck is that?]
They all look the same. [What the fuck is that?]
They're all playing the game in black Jettas
Windows tinted, right side dented [Oh shit, heh-heh]
Last night one tried to kill me, I'm sure
I think it was her
Black Jettas on the attack
She was wearing a big straw hat
Or was it a different haircut?
Or did she get fat?
I cannot tell, they look the same
Black Jettas are driving me insane

Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas
Ex-girlfriends, black Jettas "

Because You Are One.

The music nerd test.

Only the Beginning

Who's cruel joke is it that it should _rain_ before it snows?

I mean, who the hell thought to themselves (or sitting around with beers and friends), "Yes. Let it rain. Then let the rain turn into snow. Yes, that's the best possible combination for precipitation!"

Which turns into ice. Then it's cold for days so that the ice doesn't go anywhere it's all over your car window around the bottom edge and you can't roll your window down to swipe your card through card reader from the car, as they were designed to be swiped.

Not that I'm complaining. I'm just pointing out that rain that turns into snow is quite possibly the dumbest idea I can think of. Right now.

Slip Slidin' to Christmas

Not sure why the writing has been so slow lately, it's not as though I haven't been doing anything.

It may just be this iced slide towards Christmas. Last time I checked, it was Thanksgiving. Now Christmas is next week. I'm not sure how that happened. None the less, I am very much looking forward to Christmas, all of it: going to MN, being with the Man From the Future, his family, not doing work for a few days, relaxing, eating, sleeping, reading on the plane/in the airport, &etc.

It'll be short but sweet. And, of course, I'll be back here in order to do some work before Monday rolls around. But that's OK.

And speaking of ice, why is it that all of Pittsburgh uses salt as though their cars won't run without driving over a think layer of the stuff but my apartment complex doesn't believe in it? Is this why rent is so cheap? Or is rent cheap because once winter starts, all the parking actually near my apartment is unusable due to the steep incline it's situated on and the thick snow/ice that makes driving up it impossible.

It's not as though I actually mind having to walk thirty yards, that's OK. It's that I've started strategically parking such that I don't get iced into the parking spot in the morning. The VW does pretty good on the snow and hard pack, but there's only so much you can do with a steep inclined that (a) is barely plowed and (b) hasn't seen any salt.

No worries. I found a semi-good spot tonight.

End of the Weekend

Nothing is as good as in person
Talking for hours
Face to face
lounging
catching up
Eating donuts
Navigating snow
Talking on the phone is not the same
not too hurried
relaxed
but with time constraints
then back to our usual
back to the daily
but refreshed.
