Through the Rain

Drip drip
wet.
Drip drip
wet.
Quickly quickly
puddle.
Trot trot
splash!

Keeping up in the rain.
In heels.
Umbrellas make it a movie.
Suits and skirts make it
Washington.
It's grey but nice and gay
because it's lunch.
To lunch through
the rain.

Federalopolis in cement
and glass.
Low bridges, potholes,
and plazas.
Cafeterias and subsidies,
patrons with badges.
We all have badges.

April days bring
tourists and rain.
May is sweaty, our
spring is spent
under umbrellas
again.

The galleries are dry,
families prefer
the Castle.
The refined older women
sit on benches in
the Sackler
waiting
for their refined
older woman partners.

Rain makes the calligraphy
romantic.
It's just me,
sitting
on a refined bench.
Five foot scroll,
one character.
Brush strokes
three
inches wide.

Up close, individual
brush hairs jump
the edges.
Black black
ink.
Drip drip
wet.

Pull Up a Stool

Observation:

Walking into favorite neighborhood bar with a new friend and running into old friends feels good.

Doing this after talking up said neighborhood bar to new friend feels even better.

Doing this and then getting free shots from lovely bartender of same bar feels best.

It's good to be back.

Complete String of Whatever

To say this is a string of consciousness would put to big a label on it.

It's 12:19 am and the bedtime goal was for 11:00 pm. Obviously failed, thanks to remembering that I need black pantyhose for tomorrow _and_ a lint brush. I visited the 24 hour CVS.

Oh, praise be to the 24 hour CVS. I think I have found a new marvel for the CVS thanks to TR. Everybody goes to the CVS, regardless of race, income, or physical ability. At CVS tonight was the fastest electric wheel chair in DC. She a rally racer in that thing, taking the straitways and banking the turns. I got out of her way.

I like my CVS better than his, mine has low rise isles so you can look across the store and see across to the other side over the isles. His is a rat maze.

But his is 24 hours. Even if there is only one cashier for twelve customers in line. It's open.
