Time for Bed
I always look forward to Christmas, but maybe even more so than usual.
A time to get away.
A time to be with loved ones.
A time to snuggle.

Please forgive the sparse posts of late. I've been drained and a little on auto pilot these days.

I realized, while shopping for a new roller board (the pull behind small cary-on suitcases, my old one got damaged beyond use last time I checked it as baggage), that most companies selling you stuff have no desire to make you something useful. They only want you to perceive it as useful so that you will buy it.
I would have been happy to exactly replace my old roller board. It was simple and functional: one useful external pocket and a zipper pocket inside the lid. Other than that, just a square space for your clothes. And it was light. However, the ones similar to it were complete cheap pieces of cheap crap that would not have lasted three plane trips.
Faults with the other styles:
1. Heavy. Extra zippers and useless pockets add weight. They are heavy before you even put clothes in them.
2. Useless pockets. I will not use four pockets around the outside that are too small to put three pairs of underpants in.
3. Extra bags that come with the roller board, sold as a "set." I already have a travel toiletry bag. I do not need another. Nor do I need a very ugly shoulder "cary on" bag. I do not want this extra crap in my house.
4. "Expandable." Fuck expandable. It makes the thing heavy with extra zippers and material. I can fold and pack my clothes well enough to take care of "needing more room."
5. Overpriced.
Yes, I settled on a roller board. Yes, it has a stupid expandable feature. However, it doesn't have a big tear in it and I'm very much looking forward to packing it for Christmas and flying to MN.

12/21
It always feels strange to me to write the date on anything between the 20th of December and New Year's. For so long, this has been vacation time. It's as though this time exists for me as a happy time, no work and no school, only travel and good times.
Not this year. Having to work the same week as Christmas should not be allowed.
